Jurong Road Jurong Road was an arterial road in Singapore that used run along the stretch of present-day Bukit Batok Road to the south-western portion of the Pan Island Expressway. Its first few milestones were paved between 1852–1853 to link the rural areas of Jurong with the rest of Singapore. It was later extended in 1929 to connect with Bukit Timah Road. Its original span in the 1960s was from Bukit Timah Road to a dead end in Tuas, at the present-day junction of Tuas Road and Pioneer Road. The vehicular roads that stretches beyond what used to be the dead end of Jurong Road today, is now Jurong West Avenue 2 and Jalan Bahar. Today, what is left of the road is now an entire stretch taken up by Bukit Batok East Avenue 6. The latter was formerly known as Old Jurong Road until it was renamed to its current appellation as a result of changes made by the Urban Redevelopment Authority in their 2008 Master Plan.
